Shhh! No Spending!

Today, I did something I haven’t done in years… I visited my local library.
It’s been more years than I care to count since I last went.  I panicked whether my scratty teenage library card, complete with tippex artwork, would still work. You know you’re old when your library card is older than the children you teach.
So, why the excitement over a trip to the library? I got books.. for free! Granted, I have to give them back when I’m finished, but … books! For free! As I type this, I can see my best friend shaking her head, laughing at me and calling me a loser, all in good nature you see.
I love books. I like money. Both stop me from having each other. So, now I can curb my Amazon addiction and save my poor Billy bookshelves from sighing under the weight of all my well-loved books. So what did I get? Glad you asked…
Suzi Quatro Unzipped :: I have a thing for music biographies and ever since reading snippets of Suzi Q’s biography in a newspaper a year or so ago, this has firmly been on my reading list (or wish list as Amazon affectionately names it). Suzi is often referred to as the first female bass player to become a rock star and teamed with her love of leather jackets, that’s a good read waiting to happen. Non?
Blogging for Dummies :: Self explanatory. I’m new. Be kind.
Kirstie’s Homemade Home & Country Living’s Love Stitching :: I’ve been in the ‘new’ house for 5 months now. Since moving in, we’ve added some furniture, a piano, sofas, tv bench (see The day the piano came… for some more details) but it awaits the real detail, the quirky, unique pieces that really make it homely. I know they say never just a book by its cover, alas I think you can see why this caught my eye…
Maybe it’s the beautiful chairs, or the how the colours look together. Maybe it’s the red felt, I do develop a love of felt at Christmas time. It seemed to whisper sweet nothings to me and was in my arms quicker than any other book.
Have you read any of these books? Have you been to the library recently? What books have you borrowed?
As always, much love,
Donna (Amazon addict extraordinaire)
