Nautical Love Affair

My name is Donna and I am a nautical addict.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a ‘thing’ for nautical clothing. When I say thing, see slight obsession. It all started with my first sailor dress, the dress was monochrome, with micro polka dots and thee cutest sailor nap. It fitted like a dream and I’ve always regretted giving it the heave ho.

Then there are my nautical coats…

I’ve had the navy Topshop coat for countless years. The buttons have fallen off many a time, but I love it too much to let it go. I’m not making that mistake again. Each year, as my wardrobe evolves, I wear it in a different way. This year, I’ve seen it worn by The Magpie Girl with an Orla Kiely for Uniqlo dress, a dress which I own. I fully intend to be a copy cat, because the combination is simply gorgeous! Go see The Magpie Girl’s look here. (Warning: you will fall in love with her blog.)

The mustard coloured coat was a recent addition to my wardrobe. It’s originally Topshop, but I paid over the odds for it on eBay (as you do)A deadly combination of the colour and sailor styling bowled me over. Inside it has *the* cutest gingham check pattern. It has quite a boxy shape, so I like to wear it with skinny jeans and pumps. Then there are the t-shirts, tops , dresses that have been lost in the sea of eBay, left to memory. Digging through the archives of photographs (yes, I’m also a lover of photographs), it wasn’t hard to find a large selection of nautical clothing from the past five years. I will point out, some of it was fancy dress!

So, there you have it. My love addiction for nautical clothing. Do I plan to change my nautical ways? Not in the slightest!

And now, a new (to me) sailor dress has finally winged it’s way to me via pigeon post. My wardrobe has come full circle. Although, this time I intend to pair it with berry coloured tights and a printed cardigan.

What are your favourite items of clothing? Do you have a nautical obsession too?

Much love,
Donna
