The Brit Pack Presents :: The Pastel Parade

The Brit Pack is back!
This month, we’re bursting onto your blogosphere packing a pastel punch. Whether your pastel fix be pink slip, bone china blue or lilac dreams, to name a mere few, you’ll find a Brit Pack of inspiration just in time for spring. Spring. The season when we embrace the first glimmers of sunshine, lighter layers and brighter colours. The season when we realise our wardrobes are lacking just that. Especially mine. So, how did this monochrome loving girl embrace pastel and join the pack? With the help of fellow Brit Packer, Erica, and the fate of swapping. That’s how.

On Saturday, this gingham pastel pink shirt landed on my doorstep. You see, it was my turn to receive Erica’s parcel as part of Frock Swap. With its Peter Pan collar and pearlescent buttons, not to mention the fact that its gingham, I was smitten as soon as I saw it. I love a classic basic with a difference and this blouse certainly has a feminine twist to it.

Originally, I’d planned to team it with an indigo pinafore dress and Chelsea boots, but something just didn’t feel right. It felt too twee, even for a polka dot and hearts loving girl like me. Rolling up the sleeves, I was desperate to add a pair of braces and Dr Martens a la This Is England, albeit with a girly twist. Finding my wardrobe bore none of these fruits, I rediscovered these Topshop boots. Aptly named Awesome, these leather boots have barely seen the light of day, until now. Popping on a neck tie and a head scarf, I felt more like me.

Thanks Erica, you’re turning me into a lover of pink! Whatever next?

So, what’s your take on pastels? Love ’em or hate ’em?
