WHAT I THRIFTED #4 :: THE METALLIC TOP

What I Thrifted #4 – The Metallic Top

Over half term, I took myself on a date… with myself. One miserable, rainy day, I simply spent a few hours doing what I love. So, it’ll come as no surprise that I bought myself a very large cappuccino and went thrifting. After mentioning in my previous post, ‘What I Thrifted #3’, my faith in charity shops had weakened after a very unsuccessful spell of finding nothing. Thankfully, fellow charity shop fan, Charity Shop Gold, dropped an encouraging blog comment my way and voila,  I was encouraged to try again. Boy, was I rewarded! Of the many clothes I bought, this Dorothy Perkins top was my first find at the bargain price of £1.50.

My first thought was, ‘There’s the top I almost bought at Christmas!’ As a result, this was followed by, ‘Is it too Christmassy?’ I hatched a plan to tone it down, on my way to the till ,of course, and here it is. When in doubt? Team it with monochrome and a splash of bright colours! I’ve had this H&M skirt for so many years now, whilst it no longer goes to gigs, it’s the perfect girly skirt for date night with John.

This is probably one of the cheapest outfits I’ve ever owned. Granted Betsey was a surprise gift from John at Christmas, but the rest of the outfit totals no more than £20. We’re now over halfway through on the high street ban, whilst I feel like it’s barely started. So far, the only hankering I’ve had for the high street is the gorgeous new Orla Kiely range for Clarks. Who can blame me? However, I have been lucky enough to have some gifted clothes so maybe that eases the burden? Whatever it is, my bank balance is breathing a sigh of relief!

What have you thrifted recently?
